Scratched discs,
read like new.
Professional resurfacing for CDs, DVDs and retro game discs. Drop them off in Renown Park, or post them from anywhere in Australia.
Drag the handle across the disc
Why the machine matters
Most read errors have nothing to do with the data. They come from fine scratches in the clear plastic on the underside of the disc, which scatter the laser before it ever reaches the recorded layer.
The Eco Pro 2 removes that scratch depth by taking a controlled abrasive pass across the surface, then polishing it back to optical clarity. It is the same class of machine used by libraries and rental chains, and it does in one pass what a hand polish and a tube of toothpaste never will.
Hand polishing is the reason a lot of discs end up worse than they started. Uneven pressure leaves circular swirl patterns that run the same direction as the data track, which is exactly the pattern a laser struggles with most.
What we can resurface
CDs, DVDs and the disc based consoles from the PS1 through to the Wii era. Not sure about something unusual? Ask before you send it.

Albums, singles, CD-ROM and burnt discs.
DVDs
Movies, TV box sets, DVD-ROM and recordable formats.
PlayStation 1
Original black bottom and silver PS1 discs.
PlayStation 2
Both the blue CD and silver DVD based games.
Original Xbox
Standard Xbox DVD game discs.
Xbox 360
Xbox 360 DVD game discs.
GameCube
Handled with the correct mini disc attachment.
Nintendo Wii
Standard 12cm Wii game discs.
PC games
Older CD and DVD based PC titles.
Not suitable
Blu-ray, 4K UHD, PS3, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series and Wii U discs use a hard coat layer that cannot be resurfaced. We also cannot take HD DVD, Laserdisc, 8cm mini DVDs, or any disc with a cracked hub.
How it works
Three steps, and most jobs are back with you inside a week.
Send us the details
Fill in the quote form with what you have, how many, and roughly what condition they are in. We come back with a price and a turnaround.
Mention anything unusual. Deep gouges, cloudy patches or discs that already skip help us work out what is actually salvageable.
Drop off or post
Bring them to Renown Park by arrangement, or send them by post from anywhere in Australia.
Pack them in cases or sleeves with padding, and use tracking. Loose discs rattling in a satchel arrive worse than they left.
Resurfaced and returned
Each disc goes through the machine individually, then gets inspected and test read before it is packed.
We let you know when the job is done. Collect in person or have them posted back.

Estimate only. Postage, collection and case replacements are not included.
What resurfacing will not fix
Being straight about this up front saves everyone time. Some damage is permanent, and no machine gets around it.
Beyond repair
- Disc rot, where the reflective layer has oxidised
- Delamination, where the layers are separating
- Gouges deep enough to reach the data layer
- Cracks anywhere in the disc body or hub
- Scratches on the label side, which sit directly on the data
Worth knowing
- A disc can only be resurfaced a limited number of times
- Very thin or warped discs are assessed case by case
- Heavy scratching may need more than one pass
- Skipping caused by a worn console laser is not a disc fault
- We will always tell you before we charge for a lost cause
Why send them to us
Nick Nitro has been buying, testing and selling physical media across South Australia for years. Discs are what we handle every day.
The right machine
An ELM Eco Pro 2, not a hand buffer or a supermarket spinner. Commercial grade, and it treats a $3 DVD the same way it treats a $300 game.
We know the discs
We buy and sell retro games for a living. A PS1 black bottom, a GameCube mini disc and a burnt CD-R all behave differently, and we handle each accordingly.
Honest assessment
If a disc is not worth doing, we say so before we touch it. You pay for the ones we actually bring back.
Adelaide and Australia wide
Based in Renown Park, five minutes from the CBD. Drop off and collection across metro Adelaide, and postage from anywhere in the country.
Suburbs we regularly service
Not in Adelaide? Post them. We take discs from every state and return them tracked.
Common questions
Anything not covered here, just ask in the quote form.
Will it definitely fix my disc?
If the problem is surface scratching on the clear underside, almost always. If the damage has reached the data layer, the disc has rot, or it is cracked, no machine can recover it. We assess each disc and tell you before charging.
How long does it take?
Small jobs are usually done in two to four business days. Larger collections depend on volume and we confirm a timeframe when we quote. Postage adds a few days each way.
Can I drop discs off in person?
Yes, in Renown Park by arrangement. Message first and we will sort a time. Exact address is confirmed when you book.
How should I post them?
In cases or sleeves, padded, in a rigid mailer or box. Use a tracked service. Include a note with your name and contact details so we can match the discs to your quote.
Do you do game discs?
Yes. PS1, PS2, original Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube and Wii. GameCube mini discs use a dedicated attachment. We cannot do PS3 onwards, Xbox One onwards, or Wii U, because those use a hard coat surface.
What happens if a disc cannot be saved?
You are not charged for it. We return it with the rest of your order and tell you what the problem was.
Do you replace cases?
Yes, for CD, DVD and most game cases. Priced separately and quoted with your job. Replacement artwork is not something we do.
Is there a minimum order?
No. One disc is fine. The per disc rate just drops as the quantity goes up.
Will this fix a disc my console will not read?
Often, if the disc is scratched. If the console reads other discs fine but not this one, the disc is the problem. If it struggles with everything, the console laser is likely worn and resurfacing will not help.
Is this the same Nick Nitro that sells retro games?
Yes. Same business, same ABN. Disc resurfacing sits alongside the console, game and CRT side of Nick Nitro Retro Gaming.
